Second-hand goods have long been sold in Morocco’s joutias, the flea markets of the big cities. Trokido keeps the same habits: you see the item, you discuss the price, you pay at handover.
The big second-hand markets
Derb Ghallef in Casablanca for phones and electronics, the Bab El Khemis souk in Marrakech for bric-a-brac and furniture, Casabarata in Tangier for used clothes and furniture. They are good benchmarks to compare a price before buying from an individual.
Discussing the price
At the souk, people haggle. On Trokido, the buyer makes an offer from the listing and the seller answers in the chat. A fair price comes from looking at listings for the same item and at the item’s real condition.
Paying and handing over
Prices are in dirhams. In person, the buyer pays after seeing the item, then gives the seller their 6-digit handover code: it proves the sale. To meet, pick a busy public place in daytime: a café, a station hall, a shopping centre entrance.
Sending to another city
Amana (Barid Al-Maghrib) and CTM Messagerie connect the country’s cities. When the seller offers delivery on Trokido, the buyer pays on delivery: the Cash on delivery page of the help centre gives today’s fees.
