Trokido, the second-hand marketplace by Tourak Digital

Trokido is a brand of TOURAK DIGITAL, a group based in Morocco, Mauritania and France. People sell, swap and buy second-hand there, between individuals or from shops. The buyer pays once the item is in their hands: on delivery, or at an in-person handover. Our mission fits in one sentence: put back into circulation what sleeps in wardrobes, from Maârif to Tevragh Zeina, without ever leaving the app.

What happens on Trokido

Trokido brings together two uses that usually live on separate sites.

The first is items that can be shipped: a takchita worn to a wedding, a pair of size 42 trainers, a pram, a PS4 with its two controllers. They go by post or by carrier, and the buyer pays at the door.

The second is local listings, the ones you don’t put in a parcel: a car, a flat to rent, a job offer, a plumbing service, a fridge. They are settled at a meeting, and the local listings page sorts them by distance.

Six features exist, to our knowledge, on no other marketplace in Morocco or Mauritania at the time of writing:

  • swapping, on the same level as buying: each listing says whether it accepts a swap, with or without a balance payment. The swap page explains the double confirmation;
  • selling by the kilo and in bulk, for second-hand clothing shops and wholesalers, with weighed lots, a grade from A to C and a video of the bales being opened;
  • gift cards, from 20 to 2,000 DH, spent on second-hand items. Their sale opens with online payment;
  • videos in the feed, to see a kaftan move or a phone switch on before you write to the seller;
  • independent couriers, registered on a separate app, Trokido Livreur, in the cities where the service is open;
  • in-person handover with a code: the buyer only gives their 6-digit code after seeing and paying for the item, and that code is proof of the sale.

The site adapts to the phone that opens it. On a 2 GB Android phone or a 3G connection, it switches to light mode on its own: smaller photos, paused videos, animations off. The text and links stay the same.

Why you pay on delivery

In Morocco, 66% of online orders are paid on delivery, according to the ANRT. Many buyers don’t have a bank card, and those who do prefer to see the item before paying. So that’s where we started.

There is a second, legal reason. In Morocco, Law 103-12 reserves collecting money on behalf of others to institutions licensed by Bank Al-Maghrib. In Mauritania, the banking law of 30 January 2025 sets a similar rule. So no TOURAK DIGITAL company receives the price of an item sold by an individual: the carrier collects it, and Trokido only receives its own fees, shown before the order on the pricing page.

Online payment will come when a licensed institution is under contract. On that day, it will be added to cash on delivery, not replace it.

Why everything stays in the app

Scams almost always start when the conversation leaves the platform: a number given “to go faster”, a link to another messaging app, an advance requested by money transfer. On Trokido, phone numbers, email addresses and links to other messaging apps are hidden automatically in listings and messages.

You receive our messages in the notification centre, as a push notification if you allowed it, and by email. If someone contacts you elsewhere claiming to be Trokido, it isn’t us. The Trust and safety page shows the six most common scams and the right reflex for each.

The three companies behind the brand

Trokido is a brand. It signs no contract itself: each contract is concluded by a group company, depending on your account’s country.

  • TOURAK DIGITAL Morocco: publishes trokido.com and the apps, owns the brand, contracts with members whose account is in Morocco. Currency: MAD. Data protection authority: CNDP (Law 09-08).
  • TOURAK DIGITAL Mauritania: contracts with members whose account is in Mauritania. Currency: MRU. Data protection authority: APD (Law 2017-020).
  • TOURAK DIGITAL France: holds the hosting contract with o2switch and represents Trokido in the European Union for diaspora members. Currency: EUR. Data protection authority: CNIL (GDPR).

Legal form, registered office and registration numbers of each company: see the legal notice.

Trokido is designed and built by the TOURAK DIGITAL team: the website, the Trokido app, the Trokido Livreur app and the admin panel. Nothing is outsourced to an outside agency.

What guides our choices

Swapping as equals

Swapping isn’t hidden in a menu. The “Propose a swap” button sits on the same level as “Buy”, and its saffron colour is used for nothing else. Each listing shows its setting: sale only, sale or swap, or swap only.

Proving rather than claiming

A badge only appears if a measurable criterion is met. “Identity verified” follows a check of the national ID card by a person on the team, not a box ticked by the seller. The price shown on a listing card is the one you will pay, fees included.

Staying light

The site’s two fonts weigh 87 KB together. Every image has a low-resolution version, every animation has a switched-off version. We design for a 360-pixel-wide screen and for a data plan that runs out before the end of the month.

Born bilingual

French and Arabic are written at the same time, by people who read both languages. The Arabic interface has its own right-to-left mock-ups and its own proofreading. Numbers stay in Western digits, as in the Maghreb.

How Trokido makes money

Posting a listing is free, and an individual who sells pays no commission. Trokido earns money in three ways:

  • protection fees paid by the buyer on a shipped purchase: 2.5 DH plus 2.5% of the price, capped at 75 DH in Morocco, and a 5 DH surcharge for cash on delivery;
  • the visibility options sellers choose to buy, such as Boost, from 2 DH;
  • shop subscriptions, from 49.5 to 295 DH per month, with a free Pro plan up to 100 listings.

At launch, each fee is half of our reference grid. Any increase goes through steps (75%, then 100%), decided country by country, never less than 6 months apart, and announced in advance on the pricing page.

Trokido doesn’t sell your data and sets no advertising trackers. The only audience measurement, Matomo, is hosted on our own servers and only loads with your consent.

Where Trokido stands in October 2026

Status on 9 October 2026:

  • Payment: on delivery and in person. Online payment when a licensed institution comes on board
  • Trokido couriers: in preparation, the waiting list is open, the first pilot cities will be announced on the courier page
  • Bulk and by-the-kilo sales: pre-registration for Pro Wholesale accounts open; catalogue piloting in Casablanca and Nouakchott
  • Gift cards: sales closed until online payment; “Notify me” list open
  • Algeria, Tunisia, Benin: waiting list per country

Each change to this list is dated on the What’s new page.
